Zodiac Killer History: December 20th, 1968
Today – December 20th, 2023 – marks the 55th anniversary of the deaths of the first known Zodiac Killer victims.
On December 20th, 1968 David Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen were on their first date – the first date Jensen had been allowed on. In a gravel parking area along Lake Herman Road, located on the eastern outskirts of Vallejo, California, shots were fired into the couple’s car. Jensen exited the vehicle first through the passenger door, followed shortly by Faraday. Faraday was shot point-blank in the head upon exiting. He died within minutes. Jensen tried to flee, was shot in the back 5 times, and died instantly.
The Zodiac Takes Credit For The Murder Of Faraday And Jensen
Although for some time it was speculated that the Zodiac was not responsible for the murders of Faraday and Jensen due to the lack of taunting letters or phone calls following the event, he eventually took credit for the murders in his letters. In revealed details of the crime not known to the general public, lending his claims authenticity.
