Two Unsolved Zodiac Killer Ciphers

How Long Will It Take To Solve The Zodiac Killer Case?

The Zodiac Killer case began in the late 1960s when the serial killer who would later become known as the Zodiac claimed his first victims in Northern California. Now, more than 50 years later, authorities and concerned citizens alike are still trying to solve the Zodiac Killer case and identify the man behind the horrific killings and threatening letters. How much longer will it take to solve this case?

The Zodiac Killer’s Ciphers

Undoubtedly one of the most defining aspects of the Zodiac Killer case is the Zodiac’s famous letters and ciphers. Oftentimes, his letters were a means to make both demands and threats to the public, as well as to mock those who were investigating the Zodiac Killer case. In their way, the ciphers too were a way to mock those looking for him – a way to tease more information while the Zodiac apparently remained confident he couldn’t be caught.

Only two of the four ciphers the Zodiac sent have been solved – and one of them very recently, in 2020. How long might it take for the final two ciphers to be solved? Will one of them give us answers that could identify the Zodiac himself? Many hope so.

One of the unsolved ciphers, cipher Z 13, is proceeded in the Zodiac’s letter by the words “My name is –.” Could it be that this cipher really contains the Zodiac’s name? Or will any solution only reveal a mocking answer? Only time will tell.
